Green Web
A proposed transboundary demonstration and implementation corridor for rainfall retention, land restoration, hydrological resilience, ecological connectivity and scientific learning.
Connect landscapes, data and learning
The Green Web is proposed as a landscape-scale demonstration concept linking distributed water-retention interventions, restoration, monitoring and research across jurisdictions.
Doctrine: Healing the lowlands to protect the heights.
Proposed 18-country corridor
The list reflects the current proposal. Geographic, hydrological, legal and diplomatic feasibility would need to be assessed country by country.
| Region | Proposed countries |
|---|---|
| Europe & Caucasus (11) | France; Italy; Croatia; Bosnia and Herzegovina; Montenegro; Serbia; Kosovo; Bulgaria; Romania; Georgia; Russia |
| Central & East Asia (6) | Kazakhstan; Uzbekistan; Kyrgyzstan; Mongolia; China; Japan |
| North America (1) | United States |
100,000 distributed pond systems
The current concept proposes an eventual network of 100,000 distributed pond systems, with 2,000 in Mongolia’s Gobi Green Zone proposed as a first phase. These are planning targets, not existing installations.
A living laboratory
Field research would monitor water balance, soil moisture, vegetation, biodiversity, groundwater interactions, local livelihoods, downstream effects and climate resilience.
